A site to save 20% on motorway tolls
Today, I am going to tell you about a small site that does not look like much, but which will allow you to save up to 20% on the highway toll.
While they are free in Germany for example, it is true that French motorways are expensive. Very expensive. Too expensive…
How it works ?
Autoroute-€co is based on a very simple principle. Motorway companies charge you more if you make a longer trip than if you break up the same trip into 2 or 3 shorter trips.
In many cases, you will therefore pay less by leaving the highway and re-entering immediately than by making your trip all at once.
It seems counter-intuitive but it is nevertheless true, and this completely legal practice has a name: whipping.
Take the highways to their little game!
The idea for motorway companies is to charge more for the busiest sections to maximize their profits.
For the customers that we are, the only possibility of bypassing this system is to plan our journeys according to the confusing tariff breakdown of the motorways.
This is what Autoroute-€co allows you to do. Find your ride, and the site will tell you where to exit and re-enter, and how much you’ll save!
As long as you do, you can combine business with pleasure by stopping for a coffee during this break!
Since a drawing is better than a long speech, here is an explanatory diagram:
And no, this trick does not work with the train. For once, the SNCF makes more sense than the motorway!
